Culture

Fudō Myōō with Nidoji is 11.3m in height and is one of Japan's largest Magaibutsu Buddhas. Fudō Myōō statue usually has an angry-looking face, however, this statue has rounded and soft expressions as being exposed to the weather for a long while. The temple is well-known as a popular temple for hydrangeas, and you can see fully bloomed hydrangeas flowers in their peak season.

A venerable temple that is constructed by Minamoto no Yoritomo in the Kyuan era (1145~1151.) The festival, "Kiyokawa “sai” Hoshoji no Aki" is held in the fall foliage season, and it is very busy with many visitors who come to see the lit-up foliage during the festival.
