Bungo Ono’s Eateries

Kumogakure

A family run business that has a “Omakase” style menu. The owner being a talented local chef, by just telling him generally what are feeling to eat, he will whip up an a la carte style for you and your family to enjoy.

Vege Café

For all you Vegans/Vegetarians out there, we have a local option for you! It is a very traditional style of Japanese lunch with everything on the menu being made onsite and with some of the ingredients coming from the farmland next to the café, there is nothing much more local you can ask for!

San Ai Honpo

Here is a unique slice of Bungo Ono history mixed with a modern twist. This is a traditional Manju shop run by two local young guys that came back to Bungo Ono from living in Tokyo for a majority of their life. Snacks, healthy drinks, or just plain Bungo Ono style Manju, they have it all.

Wasabi

A more night-life oriented restaurant/izakaya. With a secluded booth style sitting area, having a drink with your friends and family with a side of local delicacies is fun at Wasabi!

Towering mountains, beautiful canyons, cliffs and magnificent waterfalls. Bungo Ono is a place where various geological wonders can be seen and as the result of the Mt. Aso eruption that occurred 90,000 years ago. In such a unique land, we have grown rice and delicious vegetables, cultivated the most shiitake mushrooms in Japan, Buddha statues carved into cliffs, and traditional dancing called Kagura.
Six JR stations connect various parts of the city and five roadside stations are full of abundant agricultural products and local craftmanship.
We here at Sato no Tabi want to take your stay and turn it into an adventure.
Stop trying to understand Japan through the cities of today; come to the cities of yesterday and soak in the history that is Japan.
